Description: Meeting for those who are
involved or interested in the caBIG program sponsored by
the U.S. National Cancer Institute. caBIG is a nationwide
program with international participation that connects the
entire basic, translational, and clinical cancer research
informatics communities. A broad array of research tools
are under development in the program, all of which are implementing
caBIG compatibility requirements for interoperability. The
BoF session will include a brief overview of the current
state of caBIG, followed by interactive discussions on any
topics and tools of interest to the participants.

                    Description: Identification of biomedical
terms in literature is essential for successful information
extraction. We seek to build a user community that will
collaborate on a common XML-based annotation framework for
biomedical and other semantic types. The exchange of compliant
modules and corpora will increase progress in biomedical
                      text mining research.

                    Description: Running a bioinformatics
core facility poses a number of challenges including funding
of the facility, teaching bioinformatics courses, supporting
software, balancing the collaboration requests, and more.
We will meet during ISMB in order to exchange ideas about
                      these issues.
