The list of groups,
laboratories, departments and centers working in general
area of Computational Biology/Bioinformatics in Brazil is
an initiative, rather than an exhaustive list.
At this moment we are starting to map Brazilian diversity
in this area and hope to make an resource that will serve
as a valuable information for both members of Brazilian
Bioinformatics community (including representatives of government
funding agencies) and for general international reference.
In both cases we expect
to create a tool that might
1) Assist government and other agencies to identify all
existing groups acting in general area of Computational
Biology - Bioinformatics in Brazil.
2) Assist government and other agencies in evaluating existing
Bioinformatics programs and in formulating new programs
for Bioinformatics in Brazil (potentially in Latin America
as well in the later stage).
3) Assist government and other agencies in finding Bioinformatics
reviewers in Brazil
4) Provide necessary information for potential international
partners about infrastructure and programs of counterparts
in Brazilian Computational Biology - Bioinformatics.
This list will tentatively assign different color code to
each listed group/lab/center, according to its level of
engagement in this general field of science:
